Meet the Counsellor

Jen has been working as a counsellor since 2010, and created her counselling practice in the fall of 2016, shortly after becoming a mother. Jen has always been passionate about counselling and loves supporting women to connect to their intuition and authentic selves. Jen has an integrative counselling approach and believes that connecting to your body and emotions is key to moving through challenges in your life.

“My goal is to help my clients connect to their emotions and gain a deeper awareness of the root causes of their current emotional issues to help them in moving forward.”

When it suits the needs of her clients, Jen uses expressive arts therapy in her sessions. Working creatively in therapy helps you to connect to your body, enabling you to access thoughts and feelings that are normally blocked by your conscious mind.

Jen has a gentle, yet direct approach and adapts her style to the needs of her clients in order to best suit each individual.

BACKGROUND, EDUCATION, & TRAINING

Jen studied in Australia obtaining her degree in Social Science specializing in Counselling, and later completed a Certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy in Alberta. Jen goes through additional clinical training every year in various modalities to be able to continue growing her abilities as a therapist. Jen has a client-centred approach and has a preference towards therapeutic modalities that support her clients to increase their body awareness to connect to their emotions and develop their awareness of their authentic sense of self.

Jen began her career working in intensive inpatient environments doing both Individual and Group therapy in 2010, where she had the opportunity to work with people experiencing a wide variety of issues. Working in treatment centres for so much of her career also gave Jen the opportunity to learn from many different mental health professionals,  who trained her in multiple styles of counselling and psychotherapy - enabling her to have a wide range of skills and philosophies to pull from into her current practice.
